Art. 3 – The races

The GUT – Grappa Ultra Trail is a trail running event in a natural environment held on paths, mule tracks, cart tracks and short paved sections, between the territory of Bassano del Grappa and the Monte Grappa massif. The routes run over typical mountain and hill terrain; they may include technical, steep and potentially exposed sections, to be tackled with adequate hiking experience and self-sufficiency skills.

Three distances are planned:

  • GUT 80 km: route of about 80 km with positive elevation gain of about 4,500 m D+; start Saturday 16 May 2026 at 23:59 from Piazza della Libertà, Bassano del Grappa, finish at Ristorante Antica Abbazia, Borso del Grappa.
  • GUT 40 km: route of about 45 km with positive elevation gain of about 2,500 D+; start Sunday 17 May 2026 at 09:30 from Piazza della Libertà, Bassano del Grappa, finish at Ristorante Antica Abbazia, Borso del Grappa.

The routes will be suitably marked with tape, arrows and signage. It is mandatory for all competitors to have the official GPX track of their race on a GPS watch, dedicated device or smartphone, and to know how to use it independently.

The organisation reserves the right to modify the routes, the elevation gains, the distances, the locations of the aid stations and the start and/or finish times, at any time, for reasons related to safety, weather conditions, terrain conditions or provisions of the competent authorities.

Art. 4 – Participation and requirements

Participation is open to Italian and foreign athletes who meet the requirements listed below.

  • Minimum age: - GUT 80 km: at least 20 years of age on the date of the race; - GUT 40 km and GUT 20 km: at least 18 years of age on the date of the race.

  • Foreign athletes: Foreign athletes not resident in Italy may participate by presenting a self-declaration attesting that they hold medical-sports fitness for long-distance trail running according to the regulations of their own country, assuming all personal responsibility in this regard and therefore releasing the organisation from any liability. The organisation reserves the right to request a copy of the medical documentation where necessary.
  • No age categories are planned: only absolute men's and women's rankings will be drawn up for each distance.
  • Third-party liability and/or accident insurance

Art. 5 – Semi self-sufficiency

The GUT – Grappa Ultra Trail races are held under a regime of semi self-sufficiency for water and food. The organisation will set up aid stations along the routes, roughly every 15 km, equipped with drinks and solid food. The details (type of aid station, location, mileage) will be published on the official website and in the route maps.

Disposable cups will not be provided at the aid stations: each competitor must be equipped with a personal cup and cutlery or a suitable container (water bottle, flask, etc.).

Each competitor is responsible for independently managing their own water and food reserves between one aid station and the next, according to their own needs and the weather conditions.

Art. 6 – Registration and required documentation

Registration will be carried out exclusively online through the portal www.wedosport.net The opening and closing dates of registration, as well as the maximum number of bibs available for each distance, will be communicated on the official event website www.grappaultratrail.com Maximum total number of participants: 220 athletes, divided among the three distances: 50 athletes for the 20 km, 50 athletes for the 40 km, 100 athletes for the 80 km. Art. 11 – Safety and medical assistance

The organisation will set up a medical rescue service, as well as mountain rescue teams in the most exposed areas of the route. The aid and control points will be connected with the race management by radio or telephone.

The doctors and rescue managers are authorised to stop and, if necessary, withdraw from the race any competitor they consider unfit to continue, for medical and/or safety reasons.

In order to continue in the race, competitors must transit and leave the control points before the set time limit; otherwise, they will be stopped and considered withdrawn.

Art. 14 – Withdrawals and returns

In the event of withdrawal, the competitor is obliged to report their withdrawal at the nearest control point or aid station, registering as withdrawn. They are also required to inform the race management by SMS or telephone call to the emergency number indicated by the organisation.

The return of withdrawn athletes will be guaranteed, as far as possible, from the main control points or the authorised aid stations. Immediate recovery of athletes who withdraw at unmanned points or outside the designated areas is not guaranteed, except in the event of a medical emergency.

Art. 15 – Assistance during the race, accompaniment, animals

Assistance from accompanying persons is permitted only in the aid station areas or at the points expressly authorised by the organisation, without hindering the regular running of the race and the passage of the other athletes, releasing the organisation from any liability in this regard.

It is forbidden to be accompanied by persons not registered for the race along the route (pacers) and to make use of external assistance outside the authorised areas.

It is forbidden to participate with dogs or other animals in tow.

Art. 16 – Penalties and disqualifications

The organisation may apply penalties or disqualifications to competitors who do not comply with the regulations. By way of example and not exhaustively, the following constitute grounds for disqualification or penalty:

The extent of the penalty or any disqualification is at the organisation's discretion depending on the seriousness of the event.

Art. 17 – Route changes and cancellation

For reasons of safety, adverse weather conditions, orders from the authorities or force majeure, the organisation reserves the right to modify at any time the route, the start times, the cut-off times, the location of the aid stations and control points, to suspend or cancel the race.

In the event of cancellation of the event due to force majeure or for reasons not attributable to the organisation, no refund of the entry fees is provided. Any forms of protection (e.g. vouchers for subsequent editions) may be evaluated and communicated at the organisation's discretion.

Art. 18 – Insurance

The organisation will take out a third-party liability insurance policy for the duration of the event. Participation takes place in any case under the exclusive responsibility of the competitors, who, by registering, waive any recourse action against the organisation for accidents or damage suffered during the event, releasing the organisation from any liability.

Art. 19 – Rankings and prizes

Absolute men's and women's rankings will be drawn up for each of the three distances (GUT 80 km, GUT 40 km, GUT 20 km). Only athletes who properly reach the finish line within the maximum time allowed will be ranked. The first 3 men and the first 3 women of each distance will be awarded prizes. No cash prizes are provided.

Art. 20 – Image rights

By registering for the race, the competitor expressly authorises the organisation to use free of charge the still and moving images that portray them during the event, on any medium (photographic, video, digital) and for promotional, informative or commercial purposes related to the event, without time limit and without the need for further consent.

Art. 21 – Processing of personal data

Pursuant to EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), the personal data of participants will be processed by the organisation exclusively for purposes related to the organisation and management of the event, as well as for sending informative communications relating to the event itself. The complete information notice on data processing will be made available on the official event website and must be accepted during registration.

Art. 22 – Competent court

For any dispute arising from the interpretation or application of these regulations, the Court of Treviso shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Art. 23 – Language of the regulations

These regulations are drawn up in Italian. An English version may be made available for information purposes; in the event of discrepancy between the two versions, the Italian text shall prevail.

Art. 24 – Shuttle service

The organisation provides a shuttle service at a cost of €10 to facilitate logistical movements between the key points of the event. The following is specified:

  • One way only: The shuttle service is provided exclusively for transporting competitors from the finish area (Ristorante Antica Abbazia, Borso del Grappa) to the start area (Piazza della Libertà, Bassano del Grappa). This service allows athletes to park their car at the finish before the race and to already be at their destination once the race is over.
  • No return: No shuttle service is provided for the reverse route (from the finish to the start) after the race has ended. Each competitor must therefore organise their own return independently if they have left their means of transport in Bassano del Grappa.

Art. 25 – I do not throw away my waste

The event adheres to the principle "I do not throw away my waste". All participants are required to respect the environment, avoiding the abandonment of any type of waste along the route. Any waste must be kept and disposed of exclusively in the areas provided by the organisation.
